As part of our first Dash Forward 2023 product display, we are thrilled to present some of the most significant upgrades to our three-sided marketplace that we have done in the past ten years. 

Increasing Customer Value with Our Biggest App Update Ever

Thanks to the brecently updated consumer app, getting anything you need in your neighborhood on demand is simpler than ever. We’ve overhauled our consumer app experience to make shopping and discovering new alternatives on DoorDash even more convenient, dependable, and personalized. Consumers tell us that convenience and having more time are the benefits they appreciate most. 

Here’s what you’ll see in the app: 

Universal Search – At the app’s top, we’re adding a universal search box to look for anything you need when shopping on DoorDash from any location. With a short search, finding anything you need is simpler than ever.

  • Browse tab – Trying to come up with ideas for what to order? With more than 100,000 non-restaurant businesses on DoorDash, including grocery, convenience, flowers, presents, party supplies, and more, everything you can now buy on the service is conveniently located in one location when you use the new Browse tab.
  • Grocery tab – You may conveniently shop from your preferred grocery retailers using the Grocery tab for weekly necessities like fresh vegetables, party snacks, or last-minute emergencies like cold medication.
  • Retail tab – The new Retail option can be accessed from the homepage with only one swipe, which resembles a virtual mall. It is the one-stop store for last-minute presents, pet supplies, beauty essentials, and last-minute home and office needs.
  • Multiple carts – You can now start several shopping carts in the app, check out whenever you’re ready, and never lose progress on an order again thanks to the wide selection of categories available for shopping. You can now add items to your weekly shopping basket, start another cart to order lunch for today, and start a third cart to place a separate order for school supplies for your children. Simply hit the cart symbol in the app’s top-right corner to view and manage all of your open carts.

Over the coming months, these consumer app changes will gradually be made available to users in the US, Canada, and Australia. 

Introducing SNAP/EBT online payments: Expanding food access has been a top priority for DoorDash since its inception. Creating new opportunities for everyone is a crucial component of changing the direction of local commerce. With the introduction of SNAP/EBT online payment on DoorDash for grocery delivery with several partners, including ALDI, Albertsons, Safeway, Meijer, and participating 7-Eleven® shops, we’re continuing our commitment to make food delivery more inexpensive and accessible. 

Giving Dashers More Flexibility and Choice

Millions of Dashers have turned to DoorDash over the past ten years to achieve their financial objectives by generating extra cash. Dashers have constantly said that freedom and choice are the primary factors influencing their decision to dash. Our company has developed past simply facilitating lone orders from particular restaurants. Dashers now have more earning options, including in-store shopping, package pickup, and other options.  

We’re excited to announce that, for the first time, Dashers can pick between two unique ways to earn as we continue our commitment to giving Dashers greater flexibility and choice. 

  • Earn by Time: is a brand-new method for Dashers to make money. Dashers will be paid a fixed hourly minimum rate plus 100% of tips from when they accept an offer until it is finished. 
  • Earn Per Offer: is for Dashers who like the current earning mode they have grown to love and know, but with more variety in the jobs they may perform on our platform than ever before – all with a more effective, simplified suggested route. The guaranteed minimum amount a Dasher can anticipate to make on each offer will be made clear to them up front, and as always, Dashers keep 100% of tips.

Dashers can choose which earning mode to utilize at the beginning of each dash where Earn by Time is available. They can also stop their current dash anytime and begin a new one in a different mode whenever that option is available. Thanks to these two earning options, dashers now have an unmatched level of choice, flexibility, and control over how they sprint. 

We are thrilled to introduce new upgrades to our Dasher platform in addition to greater earning flexibility, such as: 

  • Post-checkout tipping – This new feature enables customers to add a tip for their Dasher – or increase their tip – straight in the DoorDash app up to 30 days after delivery to ensure that customers can thank Dashers for exceptional service and leave a tip when and how they desire. 
  • Dash Along the Way – We know that Dashers value effectiveness regardless of how they make a living. With the aid of Dash Along the Way, dashers can immediately receive offers that transport them to the zone they have chosen as the beginning point of their dash, cutting down on downtime and enhancing their earning potential. 
  • Location Sharing – We’re introducing in-app Location Sharing because we’re continuously exploring methods to give Dashers even more security while driving. Dashers can use this function to share their whereabouts with up to 5 reliable contacts. They can see if the person is on a dash, if it has finished, or if 911 assistance has been requested. Those contacts can follow their loved one in real-time. 

More Opportunities for Growth for Merchants 

DoorDash was created as a partner and growth driver for merchants of all stripes. They keep our promise by releasing several new tools that provide restaurants more options and opportunities to expand online.

  • Personalized Growth Recommendations – Restaurants may now obtain personalised growth ideas via their Merchant Portal. These suggestions range from strategies to increase order accuracy, optimise menus by adding images, or adopt new products like Sponsored Listings or DashPass to grow their business.
  • New Ways To Reward Customers –With the help of our brand-new customer rewards function, we’re giving restaurateurs the power to thank loyal DoorDash users for their continued support. Operators can build this award in the Solutions Centre of the Merchant Portal without paying additional commissions or marketing expenses above the reward’s actual cost.
  • Driving Conversion Through Storefront Enhancements – To assist restaurants in managing and expanding their first-party online ordering channel, Storefront, DoorDash’s commission-free online ordering platform, was created. We’re introducing improved customization options that allow operators to extend their branding online through personalized fonts and colors, the option to add Smart Buttons that direct customers in a single click from a restaurant’s website to their online ordering page, item-level ratings carried over from Marketplace to Storefront to highlight most popular items, and the option for customers to use their social media accounts to leverage their purchases.
